About The Creationist
The Creationist is an independent website that looks at Noah's Ark, the Genesis Flood, dinosaurs and dragon legends, geology, and ancient history from a biblical, young-earth creationist point of view.
What we write about
We cover news and long-running questions that interest Bible-believing readers: expeditions to sites claimed to be Noah's Ark, what rock layers like those in the Grand Canyon might tell us about a global Flood, ancient art and legends that some creationists believe remember dinosaurs, and the historical reliability of Scripture.
Where we're coming from
We start from the conviction that Genesis is true history. Much of our interest in these topics was shaped by creationist writers, including Dennis R. Petersen's Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation, which surveys many of the same subjects. We are not affiliated with Petersen, his publisher, or any ministry or organization we write about, and none of them has reviewed or endorsed this site.
How we handle evidence
- We cite our sources. Every article ends with a list of the reports, papers and books it relies on, so you can check them yourself.
- We don't overstate. When a claim is reported but not confirmed (for example, an expedition's findings before lab results are published), we say so plainly and mark it as unconfirmed.
- We present disagreement fairly. Creationists don't all agree, and mainstream scientists often reject our conclusions. Where there are serious objections, including from fellow creationists, we describe them honestly.
- We quote accurately. We only put words in quotation marks when we have checked them against the original source.
- We use real photos. Images are real photographs or historical artworks, used under free licenses or in the public domain, and credited on each page.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, please tell us. We will check it and correct the article, noting significant changes.
